July 2023 was my first mission trip with Extra Mile Pediatrics, we spent one week in Guatemala setting up free clinics to provide well child checkup, vision screenings, medication administrations, and provided a clean water source. After spending time with the communities in Guatemala I walked away a better human. This community changed me and my goal is to go back every year to help provide more care.
To spend a week providing care to these communities who don't have resources readily available it was a blessing to be able to help these families. As a registered nurse my job was to collect background information on the patients and families and address the concerns they may have for their children. We also got to figure out if they needed a water filtration system. During the 5 clinic days we had we saw over 300 kids and were able to provide 129 water filters to families.
